A Hub for Community Connections: Book Nook Blooms in May

At Book Nook, every month continues a story of learning, connection, and creativity—and May’s chapter brought new ways for people to gather, imagine, and grow. From nature-inspired crafts to meaningful storytelling sessions and milestone partnerships, Book Nook once again reaffirmed its promise to be a community-driven space for discovery and inclusion.

The shared experiences at Book Nook helped cultivate empathy, ignite meaningful conversations, and amplify the diverse voices that make up our vibrant community of storytellers and story seekers. Through inclusive and thoughtfully designed activities, Book Nook inspired individuals of all ages to connect, learn from one another, and grow together in a spirit of curiosity and collaboration.

May opened with Pressed with Love, a flower pressing workshop held at Book Nook SM Podium. Participants of all ages explored the meditative and delicate art of preserving flowers—transforming simple petals into keepsakes of calm and creativity. The activity offered a tactile, nature-rooted way for guests to connect with mindfulness and slow artmaking.

Celebrating literature and community learning, Book Nook welcomed young readers from Brgy. San Nicolas, Pasig City for the Read With Us session—organized in partnership with IBBY Philippines, Southern Voices Printing Press, and Vibal Foundation. Children were treated to a joyful storytelling experience featuring Nakisisilong, the 2025 Severino Reyes Medal-winning book by Eljay Castro Deldoc and Richard Red C. Elli. The award-winning story encouraged the values of empathy and shared space, echoing Book Nook’s mission to build safe, nurturing places for all.

To celebrate maternal love and the strength of stories passed down through generations, Book Nook Podium also hosted a Mother’s Day Book Reading in partnership with BookShelf PH. Families came together to honor mothers and their stories, creating a warm and reflective space filled with laughter, memories, and the power of words.

Capping off the month was a momentous occasion for Book Nook: the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Library of the Philippines. This partnership launched a Nationwide Book Donation Drive that aims to expand access to free reading materials for underserved communities across the country. Through the Book Nook platform, this initiative bridges public-private collaboration and strengthens the collective effort to make reading accessible for all.
