Cebu’s Biggest Legal Community-led Marathon Is Back—and It’s Passing Through Three Cities

Runners and fitness enthusiasts are training and gearing up for a bigger and more immersive race experience as the IBP: Cebu Tricity Marathon returns in October 2026, at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

Now on its fourth year, the marathon—formerly known as the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cebu Run—invites both the legal community and the general public to take part in a race designed to inspire racegoers of all levels. Participants can look forward to new categories, upgraded merchandise, and the much‑anticipated tri‑city route spanning Cebu, Mandaue, and Talisay, offering a dynamic course that challenges participants while showcasing the region.

Beyond personal milestones, the event continues to champion wellness and social responsibility. This year’s edition expands its impact by supporting new beneficiaries, including street dwellers and young cancer patients, allowing every kilometer run to contribute to meaningful advocacies.

Connectivity also plays a key role in enhancing the overall race experience, especially for runners who document and share their journeys. Ultramarathoner and content creator Doris Baguio Daño, also known as DB Runner, is among those looking forward to the event. “As a runner and content creator, staying connected during every race is essential. I can’t wait to document my experience and share every moment with my followers,” she said.

The event is organized by the Young Lawyers Association of Cebu, Inc. (YLAC) in partnership with Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), which supports the marathon through its robust 4G and 5G network.

“We thank Smart for the continued partnership and support. With strong connectivity enhancing communication and safety, participants can fully enjoy this bigger and more exciting edition of our IBP Running Event,” said Atty. Michael Francis Hubahib, Vice President External at YLAC and IBP: Cebu Tricity Marathon head organizer.

Reliable connectivity helps runners stay informed, communicate with loved ones, and capture and share their marathon milestones in real time. Participants can also enjoy exclusive Smart load offers and raffle prizes during the event, adding value to the overall race‑day experience.

“We are proud to once again support this initiative that aligns with our commitment to fostering wellness and community. Smart is excited to be part of the participants’ marathon experience, delivering seamless 5G connectivity that helps keep them informed, engaged, and safe throughout their run,” said Christian So, AVP and Head of National Key Accounts at Smart.

Registration is open until August 31, 2026. For more information and updates, interested participants may visit the official social media pages of the IBP: Cebu Tricity Marathon 2026.

SM City Zamboanga: Architecture Inspired by Vinta, Weaving, and the Art of the South

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines, March 2026 - SM Supermalls unveils SM City Zamboanga, its 90th mall in the Philippines, designed as an architectural expression of the culture and artistry of the Zamboanga Peninsula. The mall translates the city’s rich visual traditions into a contemporary lifestyle space where design reflects identity, heritage, and movement. Located along Mayor Vitaliano Agan Avenue in Camino Nuevo, the four level development spans about 61,000 square meters. The building rises with a modern silhouette that introduces a new architectural landmark for the city while drawing inspiration from the artistic traditions that define Zamboanga. The design narrative begins with one of the region’s most iconic symbols, the vinta. Known for its vividly colored sails, the traditional boat represents the maritime culture of the Zamboanga Peninsula and nearby island communities. Its geometric patterns and bold color combinations have become a visual signature of the region. Insi...
