SM Mall of Asia brings the internet’s chillest icon to life with Capy-ness Park

MANILA, Philippines, March 2026  SM Mall of Asia brings one of the internet’s most beloved comfort icons to life with Capy-ness Park, a larger-than-life activation and iconic experience celebrating the International Day of Happiness.

L-R: Joaquin L. San Agustin, EVP for Marketing of SM Supermalls; Bernie Y. Mon Luk, SVP for Marketing of Toy Kingdom; and Perkin O. So, SAVP for P3 Mall Operations of SM Mall of Asia, led the opening of Capy-ness Park at SM Mall of Asia, bringing one of the internet’s most beloved comfort icons to life through a larger-than-life activation in celebration of the International Day of Happiness.

Now in its 8th year of marking the global celebration, SM Mall of Asia transforms the mall into a laid-back playground inspired by the capybara, the animal that has become a global meme for calm, unbothered energy.

Families gather at Capy-ness Park in SM Mall of Asia, where playful capybara-themed activities create joyful spaces that promote family bonding moments and shared experiences.

Running throughout March, the activation invites guests to slow down, take guilt-free me-time, and simply enjoy the moment. In Gen Z terms, it is about embracing the capybara mindset. Stay chill. No stress. Just good vibes.

At SM Mall of Asia, happiness looks a lot like a capybara. Relaxed. Unbothered. Fully present.

Kids and kids at heart gather at Capy-ness Park in SM Mall of Asia, where the internet’s beloved capybara comes to life in a playful celebration of happiness.

The MOA Capy-ness Park anchors a series of interactive experiences designed for families, students, content creators, and Gen Z communities who have embraced capybara memes across social media. The program also connects guests with partner tenants offering capybara-themed merchandise and exclusive Happiness Deals.

The highlight of the celebration is the Capy-ness Parade on March 20, when the mall will host a lively procession inspired by the capybara’s famously relaxed personality. Expect playful moments, photo-worthy scenes, and plenty of content opportunities perfect for your next post.

Kids pose with giant capybara characters at Capy-ness Park in SM Mall of Asia, turning the mall into a fun-filled playground where kids and kids at heart can relax, play, and celebrate happiness.

Guests can also join the Capybara Mascot Meet and Greet on March 21, 22, 28, and 29 at the Central Atrium at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, where families and curious fans can get up close with these zen masters. It is a rare chance to meet the animal that has quietly taken over the internet.

For guests who love interactive adventures, Spot the Capybara runs from March 18 to March 29 across different areas of the mall. Visitors who find the hidden capybara installations can snap photos, share them online, and join the growing community celebrating the capybara lifestyle.

Dining and retail partners are also joining the celebration through Happiness Deals available from March 12 to March 20, giving mallgoers even more reasons to hang out, chill, and enjoy a day at the mall.

“People today are constantly busy and always connected. The capybara reminds us to slow down and enjoy the moment,” said Perkin So, Senior Assistant Vice President for Operations of SM Mall of Asia. “Capy-ness Park brings that idea to life. It gives our guests a space where they can relax, smile, and experience happiness in their own way.”

The campaign reflects SM Supermalls’ commitment to creating experiences that connect with communities and evolving pop culture. By bringing a viral internet icon into a real-world setting, SM Mall of Asia creates a playful destination where guests can gather, unwind, and enjoy moments worth sharing.

At SM Supermalls, every visit is designed to bring discoveries, possibilities, and experiences that go beyond expectations. Every space is intentionally curated so you can enjoy life to the max.
